I wonder what was the texture painting tool of choice back then. Our modern choices like Substance and Mari do not support Nurbs like I looks like the Deep Canvas system did.

Holy shit, glad they went with the boat-fire, treehouse-building montage instead lmao. That looks super well done and cool but definitely would've scared the epileptic shit out of me as a kid

Imagine if that happens in the movie, and then the Beast captures Maurice after that song. Then Belle and the Beast would get into "Something There"

Oh, my decision? Well, I think we've seen how effective my decisions have been. Let's recap. I lead a band of plundering vandals to the greatest archeological find in recorded history, thus enabling the kidnap and/or murder of the royal family, not to mention personally delivering the most powerful force known to man into the hands of a mercenary nutcase WHO'S PROBABLY GONNA SELL IT TO THE KAISER!!!!!! HAVE I LEFT ANYTHING ELSE!!!!!!??????

I’m glad that the artists and animators have been looking at the storyboards for this and thought, “This is not working. We need a lighter but also a little bit dark beginning to this.” I bet that if Walt were alive and he saw what was happening in these storyboards he would’ve thrown them out like the way he did with Bill Peet’s original treatment on The Jungle Book, making it a little more faithful to the Rudyard Kipling story. I enjoy the bonus feature never before seen stuff that we never get to see during theatrical releases and that’s the beauty of DVDS. I’m a fan of the Disney artistry from the 20s all the way to the 90’s and maybe a few from the 2000s, they have better artwork than digital same face drawings like Frozen to Encanto. I don’t like that. Seeing this never completed beginning is the reason why I enjoy watching bonus feature extras than the watching the actual movie itself, though I do love the movies. But the bonus feature behind the scenes-behind the curtain kind of extras makes it better. I hope my comment makes sense?

This would have been a straight up horror scene. Also, on a side note, I can't help but notice the way that Tarzan's father's arm slumps to the floor to indicate death. That's almost the exact same movement that Kerchak's arm makes when he dies in the finished film.

I find it funny how this death less dark and more "child friendly" then the one in the final cut. But they should've included that line "You chose to be an Animal now die like one".

That’s not Tarzan looking at Jane, that’s me looking at you” this is also something that plays into what I heard Aaron Blaise talk about in one of his videos, about don’t let the fundamentals lead the animation to show emotion, you let the emotion lead how the fundamentals are worked into the animation❤

As effed up as sabor is, she’s just obeying her nature. She’s a calculating predator who’s been plotting and scheming for the perfect time to strike. I do feel really bad for Tarzan becoming an orphan, but Kala was a Godsend.

I love movies like Beauty and the Beast and I'm so grateful that it isnt going anywhere, however the majority will agree that most Pixar animation nowadays feels bland and reproduced. I have always loved the iconic Disney Renaissance and like many others, I'm not really looking forward to the way the way the company is heading. They need to acknowledge that their 2D animations and movies were the backbone of Disney themselves and with stories that actually meant something and loved by all ages. But now I feel it's spiralled into corporate bull with no sense of storytelling. Wishing one day they listen. Bring 2D back. We all know we want it. :)

this was when animation was actually taken seriously and not used as a cash grab or poorly designed characters with an even worse personality. it felt real. it was handled with care and love and attention.
